Summary of the July 2025 Board Meeting
This is the 16th meeting of the Local Area SEND Partnership Board.
Updates from the Board’s subgroups
1. Continuous Improvement Group
The group welcomed new members. This will help with oversight of the Neurodevelopmental Pathway and Preparation for Adulthood.
The group approved the terms of reference.
A reporting template for the Priority Action Plan was finished.
Meetings were held with the new leadership team to discuss the Priority Action Plan.
A speech and language therapy business case was presented to the group.
Next steps include:
reviewing the Consultation and Engagement Plan on Assisted Transport for Young People.
2. Strategic Delivery Group
The terms of reference for the group were agreed.
New members were identified and invited to future meetings.
A workplan and milestones for the group was agreed.
Next steps include:
Identifying areas of workforce development currently underway
Populating gaps in the workplan. Developing a timeline for delivery.
Develop the agenda forward plan for future meetings.
4. Performance Impact Group
The group welcomed new members.
Approval of the March, April and May dashboards. These will now be published on SENDLO.
Two deep dive reports were presented: Speech and Language Therapy / Education Health and Care Plans.
Next steps include:
Consideration of exception report metrics for participation and engagement.
Finalising target indicators.
Finalising definitions.
Reviewing service score cars and approving any amendments.
Agreeing on the timeline of reporting.
The Performance Impact Group also presented a detailed proposal for a new SEND Survey to the Board.
The survey is aimed at:
Parents, carers, children, and young people.
Gathering feedback on experiences, communication, future preparation, and early identification.
Simplifying the survey to avoid fatigue and improve response rates.
Sharing results and using them to inform future strategy.
Survey Proposal Highlights
Two surveys: one for parents/carers, one for children/young people.
Four key themes: Experiences, Communication, Preparation for the Future, and Early Identification.
Feedback from Wirral’s Parent Carer Forum helped shape the survey.
Results will be used to measure improvement and inform future planning.
5. Strategic Communications Group
The revised Marketing Request for Proposal is ready for sign off
Wrap up of the DBV newsletter
Task and finish group set up to review and reposition the Comms SEND Strategy and Delivery Plan.
Next steps include:
Review internal comms requirements
Develop a monthly comms report
Newsletter / external comms audit
Set up a task and finish group to agree processes for demystifying, distilling and distributing data to inform comms stories / messaging.
Identify industry media and listeners.
