Help Shape the Future of Travel Support for SEND Families
By now SEND families should have received a letter or email telling you about the Assisted Travel Consultation on Wirral’s Have Your Say website. It started on 13th October and will close on 4th January.
The council is reviewing its Assisted Travel policies. These policies explain the ways children and young people with SEND get to school or college safely. The system needs updating and we want to help more young people travel independently.
These changes could affect how your child or young person with SEND travels in the future. The council wants to hear your views before making any decisions. It’s important that your children and young people share their views too. Chat to them about it. If they can, help them to complete a survey too.
Your feedback will help shape a service that supports independence, safety, and fairness for SEND families.
How to take part.
On SENDLO there is accessible information about the Assisted Travel Consultation. There are two draft policies, and some common questions and answers. You can use the Userway accessibility tool to help you read or hear the text. You can also translate the information into another a language. There is a link on these pages to the survey. You will have to register on the Have Your Say page to complete it.
There will soon be EASY Read documents you can download too. Paper copies of the EASY Read documents can be sent to you. You can also ask for the information on SENDLO as a paper copy using the email below. You can fill in the survey online or ask for help if you need support to take part. Our SENDLO Officer is available at SENDLO Drop-ins if you need this sort of help. Details of all the Drop-ins are on ‘What’s On’.
