Creating Positive Environments – Free Online Training for Parents & Carers

Delivered by Deflect and Protect, this free online session explores the risks of online content and radicalisation, particularly for young people with SEND or autism.

Learn how to spot potential online harms and discover practical ways to create safer, more positive environments for your children.

In this session we look at the way young people engage with the internet and potential digital harms, including grooming and extremism. We also look at the many factors that lead to young autistic people engaging with online communities and how parents can create positive environments that enable young people to disclose online harms.

We cover:

  • How radicalism can happen

  • Notable platforms/app

  • Online gaming

  • Social media

  • Positive strategies for parents and carers
