Who is this for: Year 5 pupils with an EHCP and their families

Wirral Local Authority invites Year 5 pupils with an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and their families to attend an information evening supporting your secondary school choices.

We know that ordinary school open evenings can be overwhelming for students with EHCPs. It can also be difficult to talk with school staff. That’s what this evening is for.

Families can meet representatives from mainstream and specialist secondary schools to chat about what each school offers its students. You might want to discuss the following to get a feel for each school.

• What is a typical school day like

• Are there clubs or sports in which students excel

• What are the opportunities in non core subjects

• How does the school promote student wellbeing

There will also be the opportunity to speak with a SENDSTART Manager and the SENDLO Officer.

Please note,

• Schools will not discuss individual EHCPs and whether or not a school can meet needs. This will be managed by your caseworker through the normal consultation process.

• Clare Mount Specialist Sports College have offered their school for this event but this is not an opportunity to view this school.
