Big Opportunity: Lead Wirral’s Young Person’s Forum!

Do you want to make a difference for young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) in Wirral? Here’s your chance! Wirral’s Local Area SEND Partnership is starting a Young Persons Forum, and they need someone to lead it.

The forum is a group of young people who share ideas and speak up about what matters to them. It will help improve services for children and young people with SEND. The forum will work with the Local Area SEND Partnership Board, which makes decisions about education, health, and social care in Wirral.

Your voice matters. When young people speak up, things change. This forum will make sure young people’s views are heard by the people who plan and run services. It’s a chance to make life better for you and others.

What is the role?

The role is Chair of the Young Persons Forum. As Chair, you will:

·         Lead meetings and help the group share ideas.

·         Speak up for young people with SEND.

·         Work with leaders in schools, health, and social care.

You will spend about 8 hours each month on the role.

What will you get?

·         £150 each month for your time and travel.

·         Coaching and support to help you succeed.

·         Skills in leadership, speaking up, and working with others.

·         Links with senior leaders and decision-makers.

·         Experience that looks great on your CV.

This is a chance to grow your confidence and make a real difference.

Who can apply?

We are looking for a young person with SEND who:

·         Is passionate about helping others.

·         Has energy and drive.

·         Wants to make positive changes for young people with SEND.

When does it start?

The role starts in late January 2026.

How do you apply?

Email Melissa Berry at Melissaberry@wirral.gov.uk by Friday 9 January 2026. If you have questions, you can email Melissa too. She will let you know what to do next.

Why should you do this?

This is more than a role. It’s a chance to speak up, lead, and make things better for young people like you. You will learn new skills, meet new people, and help shape the future of SEND services in Wirral.

Don’t miss out! If you care about making a difference, this is your moment.
